Single session counselling is short term counselling – usually a single session which lasts for approximately 90 minutes. During this session, your counsellor seeks to identify your issues and break them down into manageable parts. Your counsellor then works with you to introduce a new way of thinking about your issues and to responding to them.
It is a client driven process that seeks to reinforce the coping and daily living skills that you already possess
You can usually book an appointment within two weeks of calling
It allows you to obtain immediate assistance rather than be placed on a waiting list for service
Detailed interviews are conducted prior to your session to help the counsellor understand your issues and highlight matters of concern
Introduces new ways of thinking about your issues and provides a step action plan
Provides follow-up assessment one month after the session
