Urban Health Care (including the homeless and underhoused)

Sherbourne Health Care is committed to providing quality healthcare services to all individuals – including those who are living in precarious housing situations or who don’t have any housing.

We understand that accessing the healthcare system can be a difficult and frustrating experience, especially for people who are homeless or living in shelters. That’s why we offer programs and outreach services that deliver realistic healthcare solutions for those who lack permanent housing.

Outreach Services

Much of our urban healthcare work involves outreach. Through innovative partnerships with local shelters, we greatly strengthen our programs and services. This allows us to better serve our local community with primary healthcare services that are relevant and timely.

In addition, the Sherbourne Health Centre Health Bus Program makes about a dozen weekly stops at shelters and community drop-ins. Program staff and over 60 dedicated nurse volunteers work together to provide on-the–spot nursing care to local shelter residents and the homeless.

Infirmary Services

The Sherbourne Health Centre Infirmary is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team including consulting physicians, nurses and a case manager for homeless and underhoused persons. It operates seven days a week, 24 hours per day, providing recuperative and holistic health care to people who are expected to recover from a medical condition in a short period of time and do not require hospital care.
