LGBT Youth programs and services

Primary Care
Sherbourne Health Centre’s LGBT primary health care team works to promote health and wellness by addressing the specialized health issues of those who identify as LGBT in an open, safe, and welcoming environment.

If you are a youth who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirited, intersex, queer, or questioning and require health services for LGBT related issues, we can help.

Counselling

If you are a young adult going through a difficult time, you can get support and connect with other LGBT youth at Sherbourne Health Centre. Our highly trained counsellors are LGBT positive and can help you work through challenging life issues to find practical solutions in an open, supportive environment. We have worked with many youth who have found one-on-one counselling for LGBT related issues to be empowering and life affirming.

Supporting Our Youth Program

If you’re interested in connecting with other LGBT youth and participating in youth programs, the Supporting Our Youth (SOY) program may be of interest to you. SOY - a health program of Sherbourne Health Centre – develops programs and activities for LGBT youth aimed at building an inclusive, welcoming community. SOY Programs and activities include the following:

Arts, social, cultural and recreational activities

           Mentoring and supportive housing programs

           Skill building and employment support

Programs for specific populations – including newcomer/immigrant youth, black queer youth, youth of colour, bisexual youth, homeless and street-involved youth and transsexual/transgender youth.
