At Sherbourne Health Centre, we serve members of our local community – new Canadians, LGBT people, youth, and the underhoused – with creative and innovative mental health programs and services. Our mission is to reduce barriers to health. Therefore, we provide a range of services – free of charge – to those who have trouble accessing quality care because of poverty, racism, culture, and social isolation.
Our team includes mental health counsellors and consulting psychiatrists who are experienced in working with people who have lived through exceptionally difficult and traumatic circumstances. Our counselling team works collaboratively, using creative approaches to help clients deal with a broad range of issues such as substance use issues, depression, relationship difficulties, discrimination, and homophobia.
If you are seeking help with life issues, our team can help by providing you with professional, practical, and emotional support. This support will assist you in healing emotional injuries – whether it is through single session or long-term treatment.

What is the Walk- In Therapy Clinic
The clinic provides an option for quick access to therapy services for individuals 16 years old and older. It enables people to see trained therapists at their chosen moments of need. Its intent is to create opportunities for therapeutic conversation and immediate work on the problem, as well as connection to other SHC Primary Health Care services if required. For many, a single session is sufficient; however the clinic may be used more than once if needed.
Who Can Attend the Clinic?
We encourage individuals, their partners or family members or other providers connected to the individual to attend the therapy session. The person may be experiencing new or recently emerging problems, or the difficulties may have been present for a longer time. The focus for the therapy session is based on what the individual wants from the meeting.
The clinic is not meant to be an emergency or crisis service. In the case of a crisis situation where individuals are feeling that there is immediate danger to themselves or others, contact 911 for the Mobile Crisis Service and ask to speak to a crisis worker, or go to the local hospital emergency.
In addition, we can provide you with relevant information on workshops, support groups, and other community resources.
Issues we can help you with:
Childhood and adult experience of abuse/violence
Anxiety, depression, sadness, anger
Relationship difficulties, couples counselling
Substance use issues and addictions
Culturally specific issues faced by new Canadians
Counselling services are currently available in English, Tamil, and Punjabi. If you require Tamil, Punjabi or other language services, please inform the Intake Counsellor when you call to make an appointment.
Services are free of charge for individuals who for financial reasons can not afford to obtain mental health counselling services elsewhere.
